Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love their key fob's handy remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their car as well as start the motor and even find it using an app for smartphones.

Place the fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that will let it go. Put a coin between the fob cover and the fob, and slowly pull it up.

Locking the Doors

To push the manual lock/unlock button, hold your key fob with the volvo key fob functions logo side up. Find the black button close to the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open the cover that is a cover for the manual key blade. You will require a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip the cover counterclockwise, so the arrow is aligned with "open."

Beginning the Engine

If your vehicle is equipped with a dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also utilize the key fob to activate this feature. The car will heat or cool to the exact temperature it was set to when it was parked and run for up 15 minutes.

Use a fingernail to remove the cover from the back of the key fob. The button should be beneath the cover on an angle that is near the body's edge. You can remove it by sliding it downwards and then to the right. The cover will be released and slide away to reveal the manual blade! If you're unable to locate the button, look around the newly revealed manual key access for a hidden lever or slot.

Closing the Windows

One of the features that is hidden that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that they allow you to open all windows at once using them. This is helpful when you're trying to squeeze into tight parking spaces or just want to breathe fresh air while driving.

Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all the windows, and also the sunroof, if your car has one. Once you're done with your car you can lock everything by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.

You can also set off the panic alarm in your car with the key fob. This will make a loud noise that will draw attention and deter thieves. It can also help you to get home safely when you've been out all night. This feature is useful should you live in a neighborhood that is prone to crime or you want to safeguard your family members when they are away.

The opening of the Tailgate

Volvo has packed its key fobs with a variety of useful features. These are perfect when you're busy shopping for groceries or helping your kids pack up their sports gear following practice.

For example, if you have the Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and adjustable height (if equipped), you can open it using the key fob. Just press the button to open it, then press the same button to close it when you're done.

Turning off the Alarm

Lay out your key fobs batteries, keys, and other keys on a clean surface.
